Sonu Nigam: I never had an overnight success
’s musical journey started at the age of four. He went on to rule the industries in the ‘90s when he was just 24 years old. In an exclusive interview with Mirror Online, Sonu said, “We come from a lower middle-class family. From the time I opened my eyes, I saw my parents singing on stage. I thought I was also born for it and at the age of four, I persuaded them to allow me to sing. We were quite popular in North India as singers.”
The struggle
Sonu further revealed that he was born in Faridabad and shuttled between states before finally moving to Mumbai to pursue a career in singing. "It was never an overnight success for me. I got my first award after six years of being famous. Though it was a gradual process, it has lasted. By the grace of God, my first famous song came out in 1993 and it is 2019 now. It’s been a nice journey.”
